Verizon Wireless is having trouble with their data notification system. Their system is sending alerts that customers have exceeded their allotted data plan when, in fact, they haven’t.
I got an alert today saying that I exceeded my plan and I should increase my data or I would be charged for overages I knew that I hadn’t exceeded my plan so I called Verizon to see if they would give me a one-time courtesy extension.
The representative I spoke with was very helpful. She told me that she had gotten back from maternity leave a couple of weeks ago and they were having this issue when she returned. I asked her why Verizon didn’t reach out to their customers to alert them, she said that Verizon doesn’t know which customers were having this trouble and they couldn’t contact ALL their customers.
I called back to confirm this conversation and another representative told me the same thing (except he hadn’t returned from maternity leave).
Please be aware that your data usage may not be what it seems. Before you increase your plan, please call Verizon Wireless (800-922-0204) and confirm that you do need to add more data.
